The CMA Science wireless barometer & temperature sensor simultaneously measures absolute atmospheric pressure and temperature, with ranges of -30 to 110 kPa and -40 to 125 °C respectively. The sensor is equipped with an OLED colour display that shows sensor information and measured values. This makes the sensor suitable for use as a stand-alone measuring instrument.
This wireless barometer & temperature sensor can be used wirelessly via Bluetooth or wired via USB with the Coach 7 or Coach 7 lite programmes/apps on computers (Windows and Mac), Chromebooks and mobile devices (Android and iOS).
The sensor converts measured pressure and temperature values into digital values. The sensor comes with factory calibration in kPa and °C.
When using the Coach programme, the predefined calibration can be shifted using the “Set value” option.
Technical specifications:
-Measuring ranges: -30 to 110 kPa / -40 to 125 °C
-Accuracy: 0.4 kPa / 0.2 °C
-Warranty: 36 months
-OLED display: 0.96" 128 x 64px
-Maximum sample frequency: 10 Hz
-Battery life: 13 hours when fully charged (rechargeable)
-Connection: Bluetooth 5, Low Energy (Mac, Android, iOS) Bluetooth 2.1, Classic (Windows) or USB-C 2.0
-All sensor specifications can be found in the Manual, see Downloads.
Suggestions for practical work:
-Measure air pressure over time to observe daily fluctuations
-Calculate altitude changes by moving the sensor to different floors or heights
-Track pressure trends to predict weather changes
-Measure pressure changes in a sealed space, e.g. (bell jar) when air is added or removed
-Attach the sensor to a small balloon or drone to study atmospheric pressure at different heights
-Map the elevation profile of a walking route using pressure measurements
